I've spent many noncontiguous months of time off the NS system in the past year, and I always enjoy the variety that NS has when I come back. Yesterday, I went out towards New Market, TN and on the way back in I came across an eastbound freight at Hodges.

From November when I was in Missouri for Thanksgiving, and I took the opportunity to check out the quiet St. Louis and Kansas City Districts in the Moberly area. There was little traffic during daylight, and most trains ran at inconvenient hours of the night, so I was stuck with signals. First are the new signals at MP129.2 on the St. Louis District, a clear but freezing night warranted a check for any activity, which there was none, so I found a signal and used the sky as a backdrop.

Attached is a photo of the old Wabash searchlights at the equilateral switch in Huntsville. Searchlights are holding a good fight on Missouri railroads against modern replacements.
