The weather last weekend was spectacular. It almost felt like mid-fall! I spent all weekend away from the house and spent time shooting the searchlights that were left standing around the area. Saturday (9/14/13), I spent the day with E.M, Carmon and Aaron going around shooting the remaining searchlights while they're still here. However, the searchlights took a backseat to what would we see while sitting at Kings Mountain. An ex-NW SD40-2 would somehow, someway, end up leading NS I-75 out of Danville and south down the line.

Sunday, I went at it on my own after learning of 375 and 123's power. Besides those two, it was an EMD kind of day, with the occasional GE for once!

Below are just a few pics from both days, if you want to view the entire set, go to this link to my photostream >> http://www.flickr.com/photos/46459752@N08/

NS 6118 leading NS I-75 up the mountain

The SD40-2 has the long autorack train rolling at nearly 60mph as it comes over the roller coaster at Gradison

Besides I-75, we shot a few trains at different locations. Here is 117 at Moreland

NS 264 starts back up at North Wye after waiting for clearance under SJ Tower

One EMD worth chasing, in my opinion, was 143 with an SD60E leader. Here it is crossing over at North Wye with NS 375 tied down in the background

There's only so many ways you can shoot at Bowen. And few ways to shoot a northbound in the evening, but this shot caught my eye. A little artsy shot of a northbound flying through Bowen

After meeting 3 northbounds, NS 143 finally gets underway with NS 6949 in the lead

Finally, with just a few spots of light left, NS 123 comes through Burgin with a pair of new GEVOs

Nice shots! It's a sure sign of fall when the goldenrod starts to pop.
Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.
