Went to downtown Atlanta today to shoot the last original Conrail blue SD50 before it goes back to Altoona, Pa to the NS shops for a complete rebuild & repaint........Running out its last miles on the old Southern railway!!

Yeah, I saw a leading Conrail engine on a DPU coal train the other day and it wasn't the Heritage unit.  I didn't get the number but I think it was a Dash 8 standard cab; it was an old engine.

It was on the Atlanta North district heading onto the Cedartown District of the Georgia Division.

That was the Conrail heritage unit you saw, NS 8098. 5424 is the last original Conrail unit (and last SD50) on the active roster.

I stand corrected JHood.  The 796 coal train had the Conrail Heritage unit on it the other day; I guess my eyes were failing me.  It looked like old paint to me but it was getting dark and I was about 200 yards away and it was moving pretty good.
