NS D8-40C 8300 finally gets put into service as it leaves the shops (project pile) after a build that was stretched out over several years. 8300 was a kit-bash started by a friend using Bachmann shell and Athearn frame. The unit was partially built with a few details applied for Union Pacific. He sold off all his HO and other scale trains to concentrate on S scale. I purchased the project as I saw it to be an excellent ex-Conrail unit for my NS fleet. I have worked on the unit off and on for at least 6 years and finally wrapped up the project and put her in service.
Some of the unit details: Can motor, NWSL wheels, LED lights, surface mount working ditch lights, DCC (no sound as this has been an older project), ShellScale Decals, custom bent grab irons and hand rails, Conrail specific details applied.....
