I'm sure for any of us whom model SOU/NS that one of the most elusive things to get your hands on is an all bells forward Nathan P5. Though its been a while since I last checked, Athearn wouldn't sell theirs as an individual part and are oversized but built in a rugged one piece cast. The Details Associates plastic one....I don't even want to think about. Doesn't seem like it would take too much handling. So I've been fish eyeing the kit from Cal Scale. If you got the construction wrong, it wouldn't be anything a little nail polish remove or paint thinner couldn't remedy a second chance at. Just curious if there's another alternative before I go the Cal Scale route....like another one piece cast all bells forward P5 out there? Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you have not tried them yet check out the new Cal-Scale 500 series horns.  They are new castings that are more refined for proto modelers.  I have started using them and attaching a picture of the 551 I used on my Southern B36-7 project.  While billed as a M5 it is the only 5 bell forward I like that is nice scale sized.  BTW when getting parts from Athearn or Walthers always state that it is a replacement part for something missing in a kit and you should get your parts, this is how I got my e-bell for my flare 70M from Athearn.  Anyway heres the pic of the horn.

Heck yeah! I believe I can live with that! I appreciate everyone's help on this. And I'd like to see how the B36-7 comes out. That's gotta be one heck of a kit bash there....
