I spent part of last Friday chasing on the Southenr Tier Mainline. I arrived in the morning to find a couple of SD40-2s and (at right) road freight 309 at the west end of the yard in Gang Mills, NY.

Joint NS/CP 38T came through the area in the morning. I caught the eastbound manifest freight at the Route 352 overpass in Gibson, NY:

Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

After spending the middle of the day with the Wellsboro & Corning/Tioga Central in northern PA, I came back to NY.

Westbound 12T was again at thre west end of the Gang Mills Yard, getting ready for departure.

A Geep was sitting on the service pad next in the middle of the yard.

A pair of familiar SD40-2s, #3410 and #3422, were also idling near the enginehouse.

I've never seen this before- it's looks like an old Southern Railway storage container, but I'm not 100% sure. Perhaps a Southern fan can tell me what it is.

Eastbound 13T came through Erwin (NY) later in the afternoon.

Once 13T cleared the west end of the Gang Mills yard, 12T was released for a westbound to Bison Yard. I caught the train deep in the Canisteo River valley at Rathbone, NY:

My final shots of the day were taken at the Canisteo River Road at Cameron, NY:
