This past Saturday, my father and I decided to head down to Kenova, West Virginia to catch some rail action. When we first got there, both CSX and NS were not running a thing. Turned out that CSX wasn't going to run much of anything anyway. After the first CSX train had passed, things on NS were bound to start and it did. First train after the CSX train to show up was 218 heading for Greenville, NC with the 7704 leading.

After the 218 had passed, we wouldn't have to wait long until the next one came by. About fifteen minutes later, the 18M shows up being led by a plain old Catfish. Did I mention that things had just gotten started?

After the 18M passed by and was long gone. We started hearing a T913-16 calling out "DK Cabin" just west of Huntington, WV on the Kanawha Subdivision. As the T913 was closing in, I heard the 234 calling the signal at Coal Grove, Ohio on the Kenova District. So with the video camera originally being set up for the coke train. I decided, "Oh what the heck," and I decided to let it record all the way through the coke train.   At first I thought that I was going to have a meet but I had no clue as to what was pulling 234. So as the coal train is getting closer, that is when I hear a K3LA off in the distance. I had no idea as to what I was about to see leading 234 as I let the camera roll for the coke train.

Once 234 had came and gone, the traffic did not die down on the NS side whatsoever. Not even an hour later, train 188 shows up with an all EMD lashup as it heads east for Williamson, West Virginia.

After the 188 had went by, then it was time for the next train to show up. That next one being the 17M heading west towards Elkhart, Indiana. As it would turn out in most cases. this would end up being the last train of the day to pass by. So all in all it did not turn out to be a bad day of railfanning. Even if you included the whopping two trains from that other railroad that ran.
