I found myself with some free time this morning, and with it being a sunny and delightfully cool (for August) it was much to nice to just sit around the house.

The 76J coal train was getting close (with the Reading 1067) so I took a ride up to Nevins Station (Kentucky) and then followed him down to the siding at Talmage where he would meet a Westbound 891.  To make a long story short, I was out for just a little over and hour (and never got more than 8 miles from home)  and in that time saw/shot a total of 5 trains..76J, 891, 376, 223 and T-19.  Not a bad hour to say the least, and pretty much a typical morning on the Louisville District, which just keeps getting busier.

Here are a few from that hour..full size version at the link.  http://www.pbase.com/kd4jsl/louisvilledistrict2012_eb

Eastbound 76J, with 90 loads of coal for the KU power plant at Brown, rolls through Nevins Station with NS 1008 and 1067 on the point.

Westbound 891 takes the siding at East Talmage to meet the 76J.  This 891 had 120 empties that will be handed over to the PAL in Louisville for loading in Western KY. The loads will then go to the Kingston TN power plant (TVA)  This is the newest of our coal moves on the Louisville District.

NS 1030, the "Birthday EMD" that was displayed at the Heritage event in Spencer NC with "1982-2012" number boards, is back to work and making NS money now...she is seen here as the DP on the bottom of 891

76J gets on the move again at East Talmage after meeting 891.

The DP unit on 76J..and just the place a GE should be, on the bottom and out of sight!

After waiting in the siding to meet 76J, 376, 223 and T19, 891 leaves the siding at West Talmage,

NS 1030 again, just along for the ride as 891 heads West. This unit should be the leader on the PAL and then back South.
