This past Wednesday afternoon 06/20/12, while waiting on the Central of Georgia Heritage engine on train 50A, I shot a few of the other trains that ran while hanging out at North Wye (just North of Danville KY) , including the hot 215 which had delayed all of the other traffic.

Up around Lexington that afternoon, someone had reported that 215 had a top container with a "nasty Westward lean" and after they stopped to inspect, the crew found a bottom container on the head that had a side wall that had started to collapse, causing the one on top to lean way over. After much discussion on the radio, it was decided that 215 would run 25 mph to Danville where the car would be set out.

That 25mph running caused a huge backup of trains, which really worked out in our favor with the 50A later in the day. You have already seen my CofG heritage unit shots last week, and below is the rest of the stuff from the day. The bigger version are at the link >>>  http://www.pbase.com/kd4jsl/cs1stdistrict12

NS 215 at North Wye 06/20/12. Its hard to miss that leaning stack!

Southbound grain train 56G crosses over in front of 375 at North Wye.

Later in the day on the way back home, I got a Southbound 173 passing rolls of mechanically prepared, dehydrated organic nutritional supplements intended for consumption by Bovines  at Southfork Kentucky.

Nice term for grass EM. Like when I ask for a multi-directional impact force generator!
Oh, by the way... what I was asking for was a "hammer"

Wonderful shots, EM. It still freaks me out seeing 173, considering it used to appear every afternoon on the Piedmont!

multi-directional impact force generator...I will have to remember that one!  On the LXOH, we just called them a BFH (on the RR, you never really needed anything smaller than a BHF)....and lets not forget the BFPW, or in extreme cases the RBFPW....you needed a cheater pipe to use that one :)
