I was out railfanning CSX at Chili Junction yesterday evening and got a pleasant surprise with the 4th of the 5 trains I saw. This NS locomotive was leading a mixed freight westward through the greater Rochester area:

Photo taken by me Saturday 3/19/2010 in Riga, NY. I know that NS and CSX swap motive power on a regular basis to repay horsepower hours, but I don't see the practice in my area very often. That said, I did see another NS unit leading an eastbound CSX freight a day earlier... but had no camera to capture the sighting.
Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

Yesterday evening was a very productive chase- 5 trains in just 1 hour! Those who are interested in the CSX action, which includes BNSF units, can view the entire show here: http://s857.photobucket.com/albums/ab139/Erielackawanna/March%202011/

This location is where the West Shore Bypass meets the Water Level Route in the western suburbs of Rochester. It's former New York Central territory.
