Thanks to a timely update from EM, I made my way down to Harrodsburg to get my first few shots of the Southern Pacific Heritage Unit. I ended up making great time after Harrodsburg to South Wye and set up for my shot. I waited in Danville Yard to see what 223 would do, and as usual it went down the west side to make a pickup. As usual, OTTO didn't make things easy and 223 stayed in the yard for 4 hours. With the crew going on the law at 1615, time was almost up.

Luckily for us, the dispatcher heard EM thinking about wanting to shoot the Corman Dinner Train in Lexington, so he told 223 he'd give him a full line of green lights if they could make it to Waynesburg. They did and 223 got a relief crew and finally started making its way South towards Burnside. With light falling lower and lower in the sky, we let 223 go at Tateville. And after a long day of nothing but waiting, the day was finally over.

Below are a few shots of UP 1996, if you wanna see more shots of UP 1996 or want to see the rest of the shots from that day, go to the link.  :P   http://www.flickr.com/photos/46459752@N08/

Best shot is the second tele in Harrodsburg. Check out the cardinal in mid-flight directly over the locomotive.
