I started out Friday morning on the Bluegrass Parkway, not really sure where 055 was. While I'd wanted to get out at daybreak, I figured a few hours of sleep wouldn't hurt. I left the house at 10:00am and was lucky enough to find that the train hadn't left Louisville. My original plan had been to go up to Lawrenceburg and then backtrack, but I'm glad I didn't. After some cross country driving, I made it to Simpsonville about 3 minutes before 055 showed up. Right as I finished filling the car up with gas, the train came by. Can't beat that timing! I raced east to Waddy and managed to beat 055 and 111. I didn't shoot 111 but I did get the 055, of course. I think this is my first shot at this particular curve at Waddy:

After leaving Waddy, I made my way to Lawrenceburg. 055 had already made it there, meeting a westbound with NS/CN power. Following the rest of the "group" that was out chasing, I caught the 055 at a spot that's probably pretty familar to some of you, but it's a first-time thing for me:

After catching the train once again in Harrodsburg(none of my shots there were to my liking), I went south of Danville. At this point, the lighting started to improve. 111 and 055 both had to refuel in Danville. 111 was the first to depart and stopped at Bowen to let 142 go north:

After 142 went by, the sun started to come out, and I figured the lighting would be a bit better at Milledgeville(where I'd been two days prior), so I went down there. 111 was first:

and finally, the sun-lit shot I'd been wanting of 055:

I wanted to chase the train further south and possibly get a few more pictures, but road construction in Hustonville held me up and catching up with the train would've been difficult. Still, it was nice seeing the few folks who were out chasing.

Nice to see you shooting the NS.

I've neglected it quite a bit. I typically shoot CSX since it's closer to home.

Very nice images and glad you got at least one with the sun out. I had to be at work at noon and I sure wouldn't have thought that the sun would have came out in Kentucky. Unfortunatly the two that I did get leaving Louisville were with overcast skies. At LS Jct. and at Floyd St.

Looks like both of Yall did pretty good! It will be next week before I can get home and see what I came up with, but they look pretty good in the camera considering the less than ideal weather we had most of the day.

I have filled up a 16 gig card on 055 yesterday and this morning and half way through another one with all the steam stuff from today in Ga. Reckon I will finish the second one off tonight shooting searchlights in the dark on the third district

Thanks, it was nice meeting you even if I didn't say much.(I was the guy in the black ARCA hoodie). I imagine we'll see each other again on some other chase at some point.

I caught it at the next crossing passed vanarsdale, if you look in the background you might see yourself or some of the others with you
