Had a few hours to kill this afternoon before the kids got out of school. Didn't even make it to the tracks before a train showed up. Barely had time to get the camera out.

Photo #1 NS 7682 Leading an autorack - Hurstbourne Lane and Six Mile Lane.

Photo #2 NS 9123 pulling a coil train westbound Buechel. I think 9123 is the one that flipped me off a few months ago. This time they waved. Thanks!

After the coil train passed by NS 9467 came through with more racks. Signal didn't reset. Red stayed on. This made 3 westbounds in 30 minutes.

Photo #1 NS 9467 also at Buechel. 9467 has been used lately as the switcher at GE Appliance Park Yard.
Photo #2 NS 9560 eastbound tanker train at the Jefferson / Shelby county line. I caught this guy crossing the CSX diamond at Floyd St. and couldn't catch back up to him until he was almost out of Jefferson County.

It was way out here in the country that I noticed I had a large screw in my front tire and it was now only half full of air. In case anyone else needs to know the air pump at the Kroger on the West side of I265 doesn't work. So my day of train chasing was over. While getting the tire fixed I heard two more westbounds come through.

Tomorrow looks sunny. I'll be out all day tomorrow. Gassed up and hopefully no more flats.

That shot of 375 ( #2) is pretty niffty..exactly where is that location?

Was that a entire unit tank train, or did he just have a big block of tanks on the head?  I dont see a spacer car between the power and the tanks, and that had me wondering what it was. I dont Think any ethanol trains are operating on this side yet..

We will probably be out and about tomorrow to..even with the "partly" cloudy forecast..that's better than the last three weekends!

Thanks E.M., you mean the 9560? That is right at the county line. Going East on Taylorsville Rd I made a left on one of those country roads and made sort of a dog leg and the tracks run right next to a house.

Check the map on that pic change to satellite and zoom in. It's located at the crossing West of where it put the marker. I have no idea why it doesn't let you pin point a location exactly. The next spot two crossings East where the road passes over the tracks is an S shape is where I am going to try tomorrow.

The tanker train had other stuff mixed in. I'd say about 80-90% was tanker cars though. I sort of lost track as I was looking at my tire more then the train at that point.

Here's the wave this time. Sure is better then being told I am number one.

Just East of Clarks Station..I have been back there I think, just never shot. The next crossing East (Coomers Station) is not bad either..

Dont feel bad about the #1 wave you got awhile back..heck, everyone has a bad day once in awhile (speaking of the guy who did it). Most of the guys on the Louisville District are fairly friendly from what I have found over the years. There used to be a old head engineer on the 2nd district that would flip us off EVERY time he saw us, but I guess thats just the way he was. Heck, the time or two he didn't, I felt kinda neglected :)

We will be out and about tomorrow, although I don't know where yet..depends on what is running when I get up. Give us a ring if you see anything good headed this way!

I'll let you know if anything interesting heads over your way. Of course if it's slow out my way I sneak over to CSX which always ends up costing me a train or two on the NS before I can double back again.

Was there a problem on the line tonight? The signals were both set to red for well over an hour and a half. I gave up waiting and figured something broke down somewhere. Those signals never stay red that long unless the line is blocked someway or they are doing some type of MoW.
