It was pure luck I got this shot at all.  I was headed back home after catching this freight caught in Pomona yard with maintenance working on the CR unit.  Since I am radioless, I crossed the main once again at Elm St. to get a glimpse of the signals at Greensboro when I saw what I thought was 4606 taking the local down CF Line.  I whipped around and headed down Elm to an old bread factory where  I have always wanted to get a shot.  As soon as I pulled up the landlord told me to get lost so I figured I'd head down to Patton Ave and catch it there.  I waited in the cold for what seemed like 20 minutes as the freight crept south through the 10mph jointed rail section.  As the lead unit got closer I couldn't help think "man the 4606 is quite loud today...when did they put a P3 on it?" As he rounded the bend it was the 3203 from the yard earlier on point.  Suddenly the wait was worth it and I put the camera to my face...  Dead Battery!  The engineer gave a big wave as he notched them up so I enjoyed the music as they pulled away.  I figured maybe the battery had gotten cold so I headed south again, this time to just south of Vandalia.  I put the battery up on the heat vent of my car, trying to get some power out of it.  So around the corner they came again, p3 blasting, engines sounding great on these 35 year old beasts when I put the camera to face once again and...click! One final shot..  It was a good day!

Nice Catch! That's why I love locals around here. They usually have some pretty good power on the head end.

The colors are great. Nice catch.  Man does that blue stand out.  Looks like new paint.

Thanks ,Steve.  That particular unit is one of the best preserved conrail units I've seen in a while!
