I spent 3 recent days chasing the action on various parts of the former Erie RR. Let's start with day #1.

NS/CP 38T heads east at CP Cass in Hornell late in the morning. This is where the former Erie/EL mainline met the Buffalo Division prior to C-Day.

38T met 309 at Hornell. The latter is passing through CP Cass a few minutes after the previous shot, with a standard cab EMD leading.

Manifest freight 12T heads westbound through the yard at Gang Mills during the afternoon.

Eastbound 13T rumbles through the Town of Chemung late in the afternoon.

Day #2 included a trip to the former Lehigh Valley yard at Sayre, PA. Local H13 was parked at the south end of Ithaca Secondary.

And... at long last... I was rewarded with the pleasure of seeing a heritage unit up close and personal. Number #1068, the Erie unit, has been working on H13 ofor a couple weeks now. She was part of the power parked in Sayre (PA).

Crossing over the border, I caught NS 13T heading eastbound on the Southern Teir Mainline (ex-Erie) at Smithboro, NY:

Day #3 was a chase of an NS Empire Link partner- the Livonia, Avon & Lakeville RR. A pair of C425s, including #428 (ex SP&S/BN), head south on the Rochester & Southern RR after picking up about a dozen cars from the R&S yard. Some of you may recognize the Paul Road crossing in Chili from my chase of the R&S last week.

After working the CSX interchange at Genesee Junction, LA&L #425 leads the train out of the yard as a CSX auto rack train passes. The Alcos are approaching Route 383 in Chili.

The LA&L also headed down the former LV Rochester Branch to drop off a box car at Matthews & Fields Lumber-  a rail customer since at least the later days of the Lehigh Valley RR.

Finally, the LA&L is headed south on the former Erie RR/EL Rochester Division at Bailey Road in Henrietta.
