I'm wanting to build a GP39X. What would be the best starting point. The Atlas GP39-2 or using an Atlas walkway and frame, then build my own sides?

From what I can tell(by looking at photos of GP39X/GP39/GP39-2) you could prob start with an Atlas GP39 shell. Of course, add a high hood... then it looks as if you will need to modify the DB assembly, and also, it looks like the inertial filters are the small ones on both sides(like engineer side GP59) on the GP39X, and big(like conductor side GP59) on the GP39/GP39-2. Hope this helps. DE Dan.

Thanks for that bit of information. I most likely will likely build my own sides and use an Atlas GP38 walkway. I've wanted to do it for a while now, this gives me a reason. But, the Atlas GP39 is an option also.
