Today, (1/30/13) NS 168 came up the CNO&TP and had 2 heritage units with it. NS 1069 Virginian, and NS 8104 Lehigh Valley were 2nd and 3rd out on 168. This was Lehigh Valley's first trip down the CNO&TP, and the 14th heritage unit in revenue service for me.. Only 6 more left..

Lehigh Valley enters Danville Yard for the first time

As the sky begins to darken, the street lights pop on and illuminate the Lehigh Valley

NS 168 prepares to depart the yard, to head west towards Louisville with the Virginian and Lehigh Valley in tow

A different picture, not the best but it looks pretty neat. NS 168 flies around South Wye with 1069 and 8104 in line.. this was the fastest I've ever seen a train pass through South Wye.

And if you're still reading, I took a video of NS 168 departing Danville Yard... You can view it at this link right here! Thanks for looking!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJQxJS828Bw

All the shots are excellent, but the last one really is something special.
Got questions? I can help you with the Erie Lackawanna (including predecessors), Lehigh Valley, Delaware & Hudson and the shortlines of upstate NY.

Nice catch! Here is a shot of 168 in Saint Louis today on 02-01-2013. Looks like they got rite of the Dash 9 and the other units. Consist was only the 1069 and 8104.
Keep your hand on the throttle and your eyes upon the rail

trainchaser2 & CQDX018 thanks for sharing the pictures.

9545 got pulled off in Louisville about 03:40. They used that engine to power the mixing center run (t79) that next morning while 168 left that afternoon for St. Louis.

How a train with two heritage units made it out of Louisville in the daylight and no one photographed it puzzles me. We've got too many railfans around here for that to happen.

To Ed, I had to work however I know two guys who chased it quite a bit that day. They just don't post anything on any internet site.
