Wind, snow and ice...photos from a really crappy week.

The past seven days have been rough here in Central Ky (and lots of other places to) . A solid day of freezing rain that put down almost a inch of ice on everything, a few inches of snow on top of that, add a little wind and you get a week with no power, no heat, no internet and a few nights stuck at work sleeping on your office floor.   That pretty much sums up my last 7 days.  As usual, I managed to take a few 'candid' pics...no internet or TV, what the heck else was there to do :)

01/27 The trees in my backyard are bending over backwards with the weight of the ice...by daylight, the top half of these trees would be gone.

Birdhouse on the back deck.

The coiled up wire is a HF antenna that I use from time to time..thought it made for a artsy fartsy kind pic, and served at killing some time at least.

No power means no hot supper, but as they say, a country boy can survive.  Fire up the grill, a kerosene lamp for light, and you get a nice warm dinner of steak and chunky soup...

As destructive as the ice was, it was still a pretty sight at times.

Glad to see that you're holding on up there. There's been at least one or two big convoys of bucket trucks from far-away places headed through the Bristol line area, so I reckon they're either headed your way or to the Northeast.

Winter weather produces some really eye-catching imagery, even if there isn't a D9-40CW in it. :D

Aren't they usually better when there isn't a GE in sight. Although when the propane ran out he could have always used his GE grill.

If your power was out how did you post?  ;D

My friend in Morrystown, Ohio (N & W country) lost power for a while but unlike during September's Hurricane I didn't lose power in here in Cincinnati. But I did have fun driving a transit bus. We had snow, more snow, then ice, it warmed up enought to melt and then refreeze all before more snow then some more snow. I think that was it?

1) My friend Jeff driving on the street were I live. This is the second of our snows on Tuesday 27th.
2) N & W Berry Yard Branch from Erie Ave overpass on Friday 30th. Note all the ice stuck to the trees.
3) This morning, Wednesday 5th. This is snow piled up from just one part of the parking lot at the Park & Ride.
4) Later this morning. I did a lot of railfanning while the snow is on the ground. Difficult part is parking the Railfanning vehicle.
