Took the day off to start this train chasing adventure with my 3-year-old today.  Really kinda silly for the first hour.  I don't have a clue what I'm doing.  You can of course see multiple trains standing in the yard from the Rutledge Pike bridge but I have no way to tell when one is about to depart.  I drove along Loves Creek, Rutledge Pike, Washington & MillertownPikes for a while and I believe we managed to MISS two trains instead of catching any !  haha

So we got a bit more patient and sat near one of the crossings at Loves Creek near Millertown Pike.  Got my first pictures of a train "in the wild".   I admit it.  We had a blast.  I can see how this would get addictive.

I couldn't get the gallery here to work so posted to my own personal site.  See the link below.

Glad to see you're having fun! Thanks for sharing!  :)

What type of camera and lens(es) are you using?

This was with a FijiFilm S5200.  I have as much to learn about cameras as I do about trains.

Steve, does you camera have a detachable lens, or is the lens fixed?

It's fixed.   10X optical zoom.  But can't detach it to use different options.
