I went out to Buffalo last week to see a Lou Gramm concert. Given the success of my visits to Buffalo in recent years, I decided to spend the afternoon out there chasing trains, as well.

This light engine move at Lake Avenue was probably NS local H42:

The light engine move crosses GB Diamond:

Buffalo Southern's local crossed GB Daimaond a short time later:

Buffalo Southern switching at the former Erie RR/EL yard around mid-afternoon:

After BSOR wrapped up their operation for the day, I headed over to Bayview Road. NS's eastbound 22K was my first sighting at that crossing:

An NS customer switches their facility near the crossing:

Nice! I really like Buffalo Southern paint scheme. Is that an "arrow" on the long hood? Reminds me of the old Rutland Paint. DE Dan

Thanks! Yes, that is an arrow on the side of BSOR's RS18u. It has been their paint scheme since the 1980s.

Nice set of photos (again)! That paint on the Alco really pops. I can't say that I've ever seen or heard of that railroad before.

Thanks! I've posted a few Buffalo Southern photos on this message board in the past because they interchange with NS at Buffalo Creek Junction. BSOR began operating a former Erie RR/EL branchline between Buffalo and Gowanda (NY) in 1982. Although this shortline isn't well known outside of upstate NY, it is followed by railfans in my neck of the woods. Why? In addition to the Alco/MLW power, Pat and Brian are two of the nicest RR professionals you can ever hope to meet. If you ever make a trip to Buffalo, make sure to get some BSOR shots if they are running that day. You won't regret it!
