Driving home from work tonight, I saw TRE 120 which looked like an old F40PH sitting in the east yard with another NS engine. I think it was rebuilt in Altoona recently and is painted with a big white star behind the cab.

Not the best picture, but you get the idea.
Anybody know which way this unit is going to be routed?
thats a emd f59ph , former GO transit engine painted for TRE (trinity railway express I think) based out of texas. I think the whole front end of those engines are just awesome looking, scrap all that passenger gear off of it I think it'd be a neat freight engine. Neat catch!
Had a chance to chase the TRE a few times when I lived in Texas. Wish I had seen this post earlier because I would have been in Danville at first light to try and see it. Easier then driving back to Texas for sure.
You may get your chance again. I believe I read that there are a couple more of those units undergoing rebuild at Altoona.
Any future advance warnings would be greatly appreciated. Would these be coming through Louisville to St. Louis and then on to Texas or do they go down South into Tennessee from Danville?
They could go either way, but it seems that the preferred routing to the UP seems to be via Saint Louis. The unit in question would have come out of PA to Columbus, then moved on 375 from there to St. Louis to go the UP (or maybe BNSF) ...who ever the TRE interchanges with.
That is such a roundabout way to get to Dallas. Seems it would be easier to drop straight South then head West using the Meridian Speedway into Dallas. I saw plenty of NS action along that route in East Texas.

What type of train is the 375 and when does it usually run?
375 is a freight if you could call it. Runs from i believe Columbus, OH to East St. Louis, IL. Goes around the wye in Danville. Runs 7 days a week.
375 is a inter-divisional local...pretty much just a slop freight. It handles a lot of overflow traffic, shorts ect, and works just about every place there is to work. I have seen them well over 10,000 feet, and at times just a few cars. Its counterpart, 376, is the same.
TRE 120 arrived in Alliance, TX today from BNSF.

One of the remaining (could be the last) TRWX units left Altoona PA Yesterday, Nov 30, headed for Texas. Routing should be the same as the previous unit in this thread.
