Title: Halloween on the CNO&TP
Post by: cmherndon on November 07, 2010, 02:40:15 PM
I had originally planned to meet up with Emmett and Carmon on October 30 to take what possibly could have been the last round of photos with the searchlight signals in Millidgeville.  A last minute change of plans for me involving family coming to visit on Saturday, as well as Berea's trick or treat was happening on the 30th.  Since I wanted to take my son trick or treating, I went out shooting on Halloween instead.

The day was spent between Danville and Waynesburg, as I wanted to get some shots of the old signals at Millidgeville and a few other locations before they're gone forever. I also wanted to be in position for that 25J which was en route to Danville.  I spent nine hours shooting, saw 15 trains, and had an encounter with the Lincoln County Sheriff. (Bell inquired if I look Middle Eastern.  I do not.)  You can read about the whole day by following the link to my blog.

If you just want pictures and none of my commentary, keep on reading...

The first shot of the day is probably my favorite.  A loaded coal train parked on #2 at Bowen allowed me to try for a depth of field shot with the signals.

Next up was 175 at Palm with a BNSF Warbonnet.

And again at Kings Mountain.

40A was behind 175 with a pair of leased SD60s in front of a GE. Joyful noise filled the air.

One of those leasers crapped out, and the train got an engine off of 25A at Waynesburg.

At Millidgeville, I shot 161 and 117, and had an encounter with the law in between shots.

And for the last shot of the day, 215 passes that tied down coal train at Bowen.

I hope y'all enjoy, and thanks for looking!

Good shooting bud..wish we could have met up, but it seems life gets in the way of things for both of us anymore. We need to try again real soon...if nothing else, my presence may keep the PoPo away from you :) I rather enjoyed providing you with the EBEWS...

and for anyone that went with option "B"...you really need to check the blog. A post from Caleb without the witty commentary is like a GE without fire...

Thanks.  It's a lot harder to make any set plans anymore now that I have little man.  I may be taking him out in a few weeks on one of those days where my wife needs some peace and quiet for a few hours.

I don't know what it is about me that attracts the popo.  I swear I don't look Middle Eastern...

Yes, by all means, read the blog.  You might find that you enjoy it, unless you're offended by witty commentary laced with copious amounts of political incorrectness.
