No NS content here, but thats what the lounge here is for... so here we go, and before anyone starts giving me the business about shooting CORMAN, its all already been covered...no further chastising needed :)
Derby Day 2010 dawned dark and cloudy with a 127.8% chance of rain. Carmon and myself did a little prep work to get the cameras ready, to get us ready, and out the door we went around 0700.
We arrived in Midway KY around 0730 and set up to shoot the the CSX Derby train, which would be first, then the R.J. Corman train with the 2008 leading. The rest of the day was spent dodging the rain drops (which really don't work well at all) and following the Derby trains North to Louisville. When the Corman train reached the new "Wick Mooreman" Wye near Bagdad, the steam engine was cut off the head end and the FP7's took the train on into Louisville, once again keeping the evil steam locomotive off of CSX rails.
Once the Passenger train had left the wye, the 2008 was turned and then spotted for water and a wash job by the local Fire Dept. They filled the tender AND scrubbed down the 2008 and Genset 2009. With all of the servicing and polishing complete, they picked up 6 High Cube boxes out of the South end of Lewis siding and headed back for Lexington.
It seemed that most of the other photographers chose to follow the passenger trains on into Louisville, but several of us stayed with the steamer, and got rewarded with our own little photo freight. Bad weather and steam just go together! . Check the links below for all of the pics from Derby day....

I'm glad you posted the non NS. I didn't know RJC had a steam loco. What is the history on it?
the steamer is a chinese QJ 2-10-2 . The exact history I dont have, but thats what I do know.
Those old f units are ex southerns anyway, so this is kind of a semi preserved southern post ;D you know those old f's were the first locomotives I ever rode on after I started my brief corman career (before seeing the light ) in the very back of each unit above the connecting doors, the old southern numbers still exist on the carbody. I forget which is which now, but I say you squeaked in on a technicality personally. I see no need to chastise, now picking that's another story. ....... :D
