A couple of months ago, NS begin operating a regular 794/793 turn, which is a rare (for Central Ky) Coal movement, The unit train loads at a mine in Indiana, and goes to a power plant in GA. This marks the first regular coal movements on the Louisville District and South end of the CNO&TP for a long time. This is also the only DPU train on this part of the NS.
It has been my luck since they started running that it moved after dark or when I was at work. This past Sunday Carmon and myself got lucky and managed to shoot the 793 (empties), Here are a few shots from the afternoon..
First up was the dependable afternoon Eastbound 23G. We followed him from McBrayer to Talmage, where he would meet the coal empties..
Here is 23G at Pumphouse Road near McBrayer KY.

And 23G again at Vanarsdale.

23G held the main at East Talmage to meet the 793 empties, which took the siding.

Westbounds are hard to shoot most of the day on the LS. We packed up and beat the 793 to Waddy. He would have to take the siding here and meet a 111, which allowed a series of shots.
793 slowly pulls into the siding at East Waddy

While 793 sat in the siding, we sat up camp at what has to be the best playground in Shelby County. Carmon put her camera down and went for a swing..
