Title: Harriman & Oakdale Today
Post by: ssmith1627 on April 05, 2010, 12:00:29 AM
Had to be in the Harriman area today so I spent some time playing around.  I didn't know how many trains would run but there were quite a few.   I caught seven trains at Cardiff within a few hours.  Also saw 54J head up the line toward Clinton and Knoxville.

Four UP engines at the head of 224:

I took some videos and pictures both.  It was funny, just as I was about to video train 168, some other railfans showed up on the overpass I was pointing the camera toward.  So let me know if this is you in my movie so I can give proper credits !   haha

Trying to start over with my pics on a different website simply because it allows sub-albums and I can organize better.   Gonna take a long time to rebuild everything though.

Thanks for looking.

 8) Thanks for the videos, the current wave of bombings has severely hampered my line-side ventures, not to mention unemployment!

Sorry to hear of your troubles.  I barely escaped being laid off last year by taking a new job and moving to Cookeville from Knoxville.  So I can certainly understand.

Glad to share this hobby of ours with all of you guys.  It's a great way to learn and really makes it 100 times more enjoyable.

Loved the sound of the horns on the UP.  Much better than that noisemaker on the M-2.

That's one of the cool things from doing the videos.  You get to hear the sounds and hear the differences.  And with the tripod, I start the video and actually get to watch the train go by.  When taking pictures, I'm trying to get everything lined up and focused.  Half the time I can't even tell you what kind of engine was in the lead until I go back and look !  haha
