Two things happened about 12:30 yesterday as I rolled into Burnside; the bad news was the sun disappeared for the day, the good news was there was a train without power at Tateville. I didn't catch all of it on the scanner, but evidently it involved a dead engine on a train that already had a "tagged" engine getting two engines from a train that had four. But instead of at 1-2, 3-4 split, it was 1-4, 2-3 because two of them had to go to Chattanogga...or something like that. The end result since they had both the 1 and the 2 mains tied up, was going to be a traffic jam. So I decided to head to KD Tower to enjoy the show. Actually, the lack of sun helped because I didn't have to worry about shadow issues-everything was the same shade of blah.
I got to KD Tower just as the UK-IN game reached halftime and there was already a NB sitting on 2 just short of the signals. The swap was finished up at Tateville and things started to move. It was 1:30 when 224 passed 144 and the parade began-seven trains in the next hour and a half. And just when I thought the show was over, two more showed up, so make that nine trains between 1:30 and 4p. And there was actually a meet coming after that but I headed home, though I did stop near Keno to check out the SB half of the duo.
I'm not usually to into the train numbers and engine IDs, but yesterday I tried to keep them straight. Below is what I saw, followed by links to some random pix from the day.

That area seems to be a bit more photogenic than the last time I was there..
Well, the cut was going to be in the shadows anyway, so the overcast sky really made it easier to pick shots. And the time of year meant the jungle on the shelf was wasn't too dense and it was easy to avoid the briars.
Doesnt look to bad. I havnt been to KD in several years, might have to make it a point to stop by there the next time I go south..
good shots, and not a tunnel to be seen :)
