Title: River Line & Crescent
Post by: ssmith1627 on December 04, 2009, 08:44:20 PM

Took some time last weekend with Billy Worsham to follow the River Line from Newport to Asheville.  Unfortunately there wasn't much activity.  But definitely some spots to return to when we have more time to wait for a train or two to pass.

I then did a little train chasing along the Crescent line through my home town of Gastonia......with the aid of my 72 year old mother.  haha    Lots of traffic on that line, especially at night.   She lives about a mile from the Sewell control point.   I managed to stay awake to watch the northbound Crescent, train # 20, pass through Kings Mountain in a rush, running at least 30 minutes late.   Was nice to get some shots with trains passing the cantilever signal at Arlington.

My photography leaves a lot to be desired but I'm trying.  And I'm learning.  I think spots with some elevation would be a big improvement -- instead of just going from control point to control point.

Thanks for looking !
