Title: CYO math
Post by: E.M. Bell on November 22, 2009, 02:18:05 PM
As I was attending to some domestic duties around the house this afternoon, I overheard CYO Atlanta talking to a train at the Toyota Yard at Deleplane KY.  CYO had JUST confirmed that this train picked up 25 cars out of the PY yard, then proceeds to asked if this would change their car count from what they had out of Danville....Thats quality free entertainment right there!

That is just asking for the response "Nah we sat out 25 there just for the fun of it. We didn't want to bother you guys for a new consist. We'll just pretend they are the same cars."

picking up 25 seemed to give CYO a hard time. if you sat out 25 and picked up another 25 it might be best not to even call in. you might run out of  hours trying to explain what happened.

Try having to work with some of these people as your co-workers.  Many a night I wanted to pull my hair out when one of them would get on the radio (which sat right across from my desk) and ask a crew to "try another tower, I can't get you on this one...".  Didn't take long before I took full control of the radio......geeez.....

They hire these guys off the street, rush them through a crash course of yard operations and TYES, MAYBE take them to a yard or two, then dump'em on us to train them the rest of the way.  Sure, a few of them got it, but there were many more who didn't.

I'm so thankful I left a climate-controlled job to take one in near freezing temps and high heat/humidity......
