Title: Railfanning in Kentucky?
Post by: conrail kid on February 12, 2008, 02:31:51 PM
Im heading to Elizabethtown, Kentucky the weekend of easter. staying from thursday night to tuesday morning. going to try to get in 1-2 days of railfanning. Can anyone give me an idea of any good areas to hit? ive found a few. im gonna get shots of the Corman f's and the Railway Museum in New Haven. How busy is Harrodsburg? is it worth it to go to see street running? im planning to go to LaGrange to catch some CSX stuff there also

Any Help would be kindly appreciated, also if anyone lives in the area and would like to play tour guide for a visitng railfan, it would be much apprecaietd.

Harrodsburg has numerous good locations to shoot from, and is only about 1 1/2 hours from Etown, up the BG parkway to exit 59 and south on 127.  Traffic is spread out through the day most of the time, but early mornings and late afternoons are usually the busiest times.

If you are gonna drive to Hogtown, might as well go on into Danville. You can see everything off the LS plus the CNO&TP.

If you plan to come this way on the Saturday of your trip, I might be able to show you around some...but thats a long way off :)
