I was on my way home from working at our Richmond location this afternoon, tooling around New Circle road in Lexington (KY) when I saw a Soutbound NS train go whizzing by with a pair of the new KCS units on it.. I turned on the NS radio to see what train it was and with the sun shining decided that I need to shoot that thing. Problem was, I didnt have the camera with me.. So....after a mad dash home (40 miles) I grabbed the trusty Canon, and continued said mad dash South to Danville (another 30 miles). They just beat me past the wye, and the headlight was shining around the curve when I pulled into Danville Yard.
The train was Southbound 143, with brand spanking new KCS Gevos 4715, 4716, along with a couple of NS vets, the 4608 and the 7086. I managed a couple of Grab-o-matic wedgies at DV tower, then high tailed it down to Bowen for a little better scenery. Alas, the clouds also decided to gather at Bowen, so the light was not the best, but I was there, so I did what I could do. Just before 143 showed up, board member Joe Vittitoe showed up, saying that the 117 also had a pair of KCS units today. He had spent the last Two days shooting them between Danville and Chattanooga...must be nice :) I have to say, besides good ol Green and Gold on a F unit, this has to be one of the all time best paint schemes I have ever seen....dang near even makes a nasty ol GE look good..
For what its worth, the pics...

The KCS Belles are turning up everywhere except for the KCS system? Seems like they're proliferating all over the MidWest.
Nice to run into Emmett.Yeah Tuesday and Wednesday are my days off and I
got real lucky catching three sets of those guys.Don't normally do that kind of
extreme fanning.Would go broke quick. However that was some good power and
I'm glad that I thought in advance to have a change of clothes.
Nice shots Emmett! Is that the KCS system scheme now or just the scheme for KCS de Mexico. I bet the Mexicans love all of that color!
Nice shots Emmett!! Honestly I've seen them a lot around lately, 143 had two today and 235 has one on it too!
