I went out to Lawrenceburg this evening to execute a plan that had been brewing in my head for Two years. The County was supposed to have its normal large fireworks show, and it just so happens that those said fireworks would line up perfectly in the background for some killer night shots with the NS local power, which was tied down for the night.
We had rain this evening...storms, lighting, hail, wind, the whole show. It stopped just before dark, and I had no reason to think that they would have canceled the fireworks...but I guess they did.. All that planning, thinking, playing with different angles, F stops, shutter speeds, months of careful calculations and all for squat. We stood out there in the mist and fog getting eaten alive by the hordes of skeeters, and for nothing. They will reschedule for the weekend Im sure, when I am out of town for work...luck, none at all.
Here are a few I got anyway..standard old crap I have shot a million times before....im going to bed and continue cussing...

I have learned that calculated efforts are usually wasted. I have found that if you point your camera in the direction of the train it usually works out.
If had not been for some patriotic citizens in Lawrenceburg shooting off fireworks at home I could not have achieved my favorite pic of the night.

Excellent shots Emmett and Junior. Night shots are hard to beat.
Quick question though. What do y'all use for your lighting on night shots? I've been shooting using mainly available lighting (ie street lights) but often end up with I guess what you'd call light rays filtering into the shots.
Hi Emmett... thanks for sharing. These are SWEET SHOTS. I should take lessons from you. Later, Ed 8)
Junior.... ditto for your shots... SWEET. Later, Ed
