Title: I need some feedback please!
Post by: JCagle on June 17, 2007, 01:38:26 AM
I'm doing some changes to my site and I was wondering if there is a preference to where picture captions are located. I can see how having the caption with the thumb would be beneficial, but I can also see how it would be useful to have it with the actual full size image. Is there any sort of preference or does anyone care? Thanks in advance.

I like to save (download) photos from time to time if I find them useful for modeling purposes or for other reference. I also do this because I like the image(s). I have seen many photographs with the copyright, location, date and photographers name printed on the photo near the top or bottom. I find this useful and it save me from having to type that info in a title bar before saving.

If you could do something like that might be helpful. If the captuion contained a large amount of information that would not be practical and would be seperate from the photo.

Just some thoughts.

I still use and maintain that having thumbnails is the best thing to do as a responsible website operator.

Oddly enough, there are still LOTS of folks out there not working with DSL or other Broadband service, and having those thumbnails saves them an ass load of time on loading your site.

Just a thought.

Yes, folks just like me. If I see something that I like, then I can choose to wait while that photo only opens.

I may have misinterpreted you JB,

From these passed two posts I am getting the impression you want to do away with thumbnails? I thought it was just the placement of the caption information. If that is the case By all means keep the thumbnails. I agree with the reasons already stated.

Seems I misunderstood. It was a long day when I replied lastnight.

No, I'm not doing away with thumbnails I'm just trying to decide if I want to keep the captions with the thumb so someone knows what they are looking at in small form, which is the way I'm leaning, or with the full size image. The only advantage to doing it with the image is you can put more thumbs on a screen.
