Yesterday, the Southern heritage unit led NS 289 south out of Cincinnati after arriving sometime during the night. Thanks to some delays and length of doubling their train, 289 didn't depart Cincinnati till 3pm. Which is good for me since my last class ends around 4 and it gave me time to go to the one place where a unit like this needed to be captured. I made my way to Delaplain, the site of the last Southern searchlight bridges on the entire CNO&TP.. I knew that was the one place and the ONLY spot I wanted this unit at.
After a long period of waiting, and watching the sun fall farther and farther into the sky and the shadows creeping up over the signals, around 7pm, NS 289 round the curve and made, for what may be the last time, a perfect SOUTHERN moment!
