Title: NS 50D With The “Hiccups”
Post by: NSSpike on September 19, 2014, 02:42:47 PM
Headed north out of Douglasville to Hiram to catch the 50D grain train to Camila Georgia running south on the Atlanta North District. Into Oak the train took the siding. Not a good thing. Sure enough a north bound bare table move ended up between me and the 50D. I headed further south toward Powder Springs. Had two road crossings to beat the train two and I wasn't even sure I'd even make the first one at the Clark signal but I did thanks to the north bound just clearing the south end of the siding. Made the second with ease and then heard the crew report they had just lost and engine out of Clark. Oh me. Not long I heard them call out the signal @ MP128 .2.H

Just north of England MP133.0H the engineer stops the train and advises the dispatcher he has lost power and will attempt to fix the problem. The dispatcher advises to get to Nick-a-Jack and they will have the shop meet them there. "just give me 3 minutes and I'll fix the problem"  And sure enough they head south at England over the Sweetwater deck bridge at the Austell Box Board Plant.

The crew reports to the dispatcher that their third unit gets the hiccups any time they stop but they are back moving. This train is headed to East Point and will tie down at Oakland Jct. Not sure at this posting when it is called to head south over the Griffin District.
