Saturday, I rode behind 630 as I sat back and rolled through Gods Country. Seeing the line first hand that I've grown up around. Of course, I saw plenty of JREBers along the way..

And now, onto the chase. I left Danville as the train departed Lexington on Sunday, and made my way down to Kings Mountain where a majority of folks were. Most got the searchlight shot, others got the shot off the bridge. But, I walked through a tick and thorn infested forest to get my shot.
From high upon the mountain top, SOU 630 rounds the bend as it tries to top Kings Mountain

After running through the thorn field, I caught up with John Owens and a few others and we convoyed down to Elihu and the double track project where we caught 630 roll by a small farm near Grove

I went on my own for awhile and got 630 coming through Parkers Lake.. After seeing about 40-50 people from the train on the bridge Saturday, I was happy that there was only 7 of us on Sunday :)

Coming back north, NS 957 and SOU 630 cross the State Line back into the Bluegrass State

Another time where walking through a snake and tick infested forest was worth it.. From high on the cliff overlook, Southern 630 crosses the Cumberland River Bridge in Burnside

This was THE shot I wanted out of the trip..

Finally, after breaking a few speed limit laws and running nearly 400 yards.. I made it in time to catch Southern 630 pass the Danville Depot.. It's not often when you blow E.M's doors off, but when it happens, the shot it always worth it :)

Great pictures! I really like the one at King's Mountain. I'll have to go back there some time and try some different locations. Not far.
Nice view from the overlook above the C. River. I have been wanting to get back up there, but the new interchange messed that up. No good place to park, even with a truck. I guess a person could park somewhere else and walk way over there. Not good crossing that highway. Russian Roulette.
Very nice.
Super pics, Gage!
Note: I'm the one who introduced myself on the bus ride over from Rupp Arena on Saturday morning. A link to the CNO&TP layout I mentioned is below.
Anyway, if you want photographs of railfans from Saturday's excursion, I've added one of you and friends (hope you didn't wear those same shorts when running through the woods at Kings Mountain or Burnside on Sunday!).
The second and third pics, at Oneida, were through a dirty section of the window on car #10 (sorry Bell's and others).
Among my best pics: When they staged the train on Friday afternoon, I caught #630 coming over from the Corman yard.

Haha, no, I had on a different pair.. But they are now being fumigated for a tick infestation :)
Nice shots! I especially like photos #3, #8 and #10.
Very nice shots! I wish I could have chased with you guys, but you can't be in Spencer and Kings Mountain, KY at the same time.
