After not seeing a Heritage unit in over 6 months and one not even getting close to me in about 2 months, I finally got to catch the Virginian Sunday. It was one of the 15 that I still had not seen. Thanks to some inside info and several headsup from friends I got to give chase to the Virginian on my home line.
1069 is about to roll off home rails at Patrick Henry just east of Brookneal, VA

1069 leads a Trash 9 on 762 around a sweeping curve just south of Nathalie, VA.

The mighty Virginian struggles up to the top of the grade at Cluster Springs, VA. The 1069 is just feet from cresting the grade and starting down the backside.

1069 leads the 762 off the backside of the hill at Cluster headed for Hyco. This spot is about 3/10ths of a mile from my house.

1069 pops out from behind a cut at MP HY1.0 on the Hyco Spur. 6 miles of tight curves and a hard pull lay between the train and Hyco plant.

Beautiful shots Paul! The VGN unit is one of the 8...oops 7(Got MGA today!!!) I have left to get(including 1030). DE Dan.
Very nice work! The last shot is my favorite but they're all great!
I've seen this unit twice now and it may be my favorite HU I have seen so far.
PA Dan
PS: I still need to see the Southern, Erie, MGA, S&A, the IT and the Interstate, oh and the 1030(which I may have seen but not realized it).
Good stuff here Paul, the color in the photos really seems to pop out. I like them all!
Nice shots thanks for sharing
I agree: that last shot is an absolute killer.
I think of all the paint jobs done, the Virginian is the sharpest. N-S should paint all of their fleet that scheme.
They should paint all their new SD70ACes in the Reading scheme and all their new GEVOS in the Original NS scheme. All their DASH 9's belong to the Virginian.

I think I'd be alright with that!

Thanks guys. I came very close to hanging the chase up at my house and not getting that last shot but Im glad I did. And as for EMD wearing RDG paint, no I don't think so, if anything they need to be in this paint.
Paul
Micheal, now you are talking. It doesnt get much better than a EMD wearing a Tux.
