Title: NS 6590 and a few more from the last couple days.
Post by: Ed Fury on June 15, 2012, 02:52:44 AM
Saw the heads up on here that 6590 was leading and caught them going over Hurstbourne Lane mp 286.

Later this evening I caught this single dash 9 pulling a pretty decent sized train. They were crawling. I don't know how they made it across the Louisville District with one engine. It must have taken all day for sure.

I ran in to another railfan and while talking about trains this one snuck up on us.

I removed the car and thought why not add like a street full of yellow cars? I started working on it and got bored after two...

This is the dpu off 77J or 76J. I ran some "tone mapping" software on it to give it the fake HDR effect.

I stopped by that other railroad and saw a couple of trains while things got slow on the NS.

A coal train in Shelbyville last Saturday.

I followed it to Waddy.

And after the coal train cleared East a stack came through. I've seen 7603 so many times in the last week I am gonna vomit if I see it again. It was leading 23G this afternoon.

After this stack cleared the Westbound stack in the siding left for Louisville. It had a SD70-M leading. I don't know where my pics went. I guess I'll try to sort through and add them to the next batch of pictures I post.

And speaking of that other railroad, the cool part about them is they still use real yard power in the yard, four axles on locals, and you see many more standard cabs on road power around here.

They were coasting. The engines were silent. If it wasn't for a wellcar about halfways back you couldn't really even hear the train over street traffic.

Thanks. I really like that bridge in Waddy. Beside the wooden one lane bridge close to the Pope Lick Trestle I'm not sure there is a bridge as close to the top of the trains as the one in Waddy. I need to remember to shoot a video the next time I am there. The sound of those eastbounds climbing up the hill really echo up through there and sound awesome.

I'll take the ex-Ohio Central.

Those CSX switchers are pretty common if you spend any time North of Osborn yard rail fanning.
