Title: Just another Tidewater Coal Train, Except
Post by: Ptrainman on April 16, 2012, 08:53:11 PM
Thanks goes to Whitethorne for the heads up that 8101 was leading 820 into Roanoke. After checking with a few people to find out if 8101 was still on 820 when it left Roanoke, I decide I would head to Brookneal, VA to catch it. It left Roanoke later than I figured but that worked out for me, because as usual if something special is coming, everything goes wrong. I got to Brookneal about 10 mins before they did and if it had not been for the slow orders west of Brookneal, they would have wnet through before I got there. The slow orders also helped because they were only doing 15mph through Brookneal trying to get up to speed again vs 40mph track speed. It was way to late in the day for a eastbound, and they are backlit because you cant get on the other side of the tracks, but I took what I had to work with. First is 820 passing the pusher set for the Durham District.

And a shot of 77A a empty Clover train that left home the same time I did had to wait at Patrick Henry for 820 to pass.
