Title: The Most Amazing Layout You've Ever Seen!
Post by: MotoLinz on December 25, 2011, 07:51:22 PM
Okay, not really.

Santa left this snappy Athearn HO set for my four year old. He was kind enough to drop it off on Tuesday so that we could give it a test run and make sure we had it all worked out, and everything went peachy. ...however, when we--I mean, Santa--set it up last night, it kept getting hung up in the corners on the track joints. Try as he might, Santa was unable to get the train to move successfully around the track. So, he unplugged it and left it as it appears in the photo with the intent of procuring more track (to make the curves less severe, perhaps) sometime this week and maybe a gigantic piece of plywood for a more permanent layout location in the sunroom. Nonetheless, Jackson was pretty thrilled with it and jumped up and down on the couch yelling, "Yay! It's what I wanted!" before getting distracted by his new bicycle.

Try putting it on a board mounted on a 2x4 frame. If room is a problem then put loops in the ceiling and run cords from the frame to the loops so you can lift it out of the way.

Will do. Thanks! We will keep it simple to start, but something a little more interesting than an oval would be groovy.

Also, I must have jinxed myself in the previous thread when I asked about couplers, because I've already done coupler surgery twice due to my two year old's less-than-gentle ways. :)

The lastest issue of MR has 4x8 track plans in it.
