NS sent me a nice gift today in the form of a SD70ACe lead train. This morning while getting ready for work I hear the Louisville District dispatcher give NS 1000 a warrant to head west from Joyes to Tucker.
Having a little time to spare I spead up the process of getting ready and made a run to intercept. Westbound empty coal train 793 with the 1000,1001 and 8004 was about to arrive at Tucker as I pulled
up and even though the weather wasn't the best for great photography I couldn't pass up the opportunity
for my first NS ACe leader let alone the class leader. Tomorrow this should be coming back as the 792 and
at least one of those ACe's should be either up front or in DPU.
Awesome Joe! Good to know they have those in rotation on that train now..power usually makes a few round trips on 792/793.
I have been seeing them come by the house for some time now. The other day in Appalachia,VA there were two SD70'2 tied down back to back. Beautiful engines.
All I saw today was black faced dash9s leading except for one es40. No returning coal train. I did miss a couple of westbound trains.
With the signals at mp 286 staying red and not resetting I have no idea when a train is coming now so I leave and as soon as I get down the road out of sight from the tracks I hear a train horn.
I was wondering where does 793 originate? I was in the Sharonville area and I seen some coal cars headed south but couldn't make out the head end?! And it was empty so I was just check to see if I missed a chance to see the ACes as well
From Indiana through Louisville and in to Tennessee.. and then back again.
Well that wasn't the train then lol thanks for the info Ed
Actually the serve a Georgia Power plant near Newnan Ga. I was down that way last year when 792 rolled
by me.
