Carm & myself got a late start (Thursday) morning on our 5 day roadtrip, but managed to beat the NS OCS to Chattanooga and got them coming across Tenbridge in the less than sunny light this afternoon. That was the start of a hectic and non-stop afternoon-evening (and into the night) shooting all the positioning moves to get things in place for the rail-fest this weekend. We didn't get settled into the hotel until 2330....and this was the EASY laid back day of the trip.....
Here are a couple of quick teasers from day 1....just 2 of about 150 frames I shot so far.....
#1..The NS OCS "pocket rocket" crosses Tenbridge and enters Chattanooga around 1445 09/01/11
#2..The NS "Volkswagen Job" passes SR 630 at CP Jersey, on the GA div mainline this evening...
Good Lord, a running steamer and two switch engines!!! (clutching chest) THIS IS THE BIG ONE ELIZABETH, I'M COMING TO JOIN YA HONEY. what a cool shot.
I figured you might like that!
Now..wrap your head around this....NS is selling or scrapping the buttheads at an alarming rate..There are NOT a lot of them left in service. Out of the power in that picture, the STEAMER has a brighter future on the NS than the pair of switchers...
I know, its awful, we get between two and four a month stenciled for progress rail, they've mostly been the ex conrail numbers but still, at least they've been leasing them out.
