Title: Buechel Kentucky 3-2-11
Post by: Ed Fury on March 03, 2011, 12:39:49 AM
NS is doing work on the crossings in the Louisville area. They have been using a concrete saw to cut a line about 3 feet out from the rail on each side of the crossing. They did the Buechel Depot crossing and Jennings Lane yesterday and they did Old Bardstown Rd and Six Mile Lane today.

I left the house about 2pm and the light was set for an eastbound. I waited forever and figured the intermodal was blocking the tracks. I went on to the Buechel Depot and waited there while 23G was assembled in the GE appliance park yard. It took easily over an hour to build the train. The DPU I guess is adding on extra assembly time but makes up for that in a faster point to point time???

After 23G went East the light went yellow back to red so I figured something had been waiting in the Tucker siding since it took so long to assemble 23G.

There ended up being two autorack trains headed West. Both came through on the same red signal without it resetting. Both were really short.

They started the construction work shortly after the second train past by at Old Bardstown Rd crossing so I figured nothing would be moving for a while and headed over to CSX to see what was moving.

Photos 1 & 2 Autoracks that I am guessing are returning from the Simpsonville mixing center.
