Title: Any Derailments on the Bristol Line lately?
Post by: billworsham on February 09, 2011, 09:43:31 PM
While I was chasing the A line (or Bristol Line) between Knoxville and Jefferson City, TN, I passed the Hodges control point and noticed there were a bunch of RJ Corman derailment services trucks and equipment parked there.  The tracks seemed to be in good shape, and I couldn't tell if there was any ground or 'residual' mess left over from a derailment, so the question is, was there a derailment recently at this location?

If there had been a derailment, Corman would not have been sitting...trust me. Those guys are amazing to watch in action, and I have seen them several times.

Besides clean up messes, they also use sidebooms and other equipment for a host of other chores for the RR, including lifting engines to swap out wheel sets away from the shop, and various heavy track work that may need to be completed in a short amount of time.
