Title: Kingston coal
Post by: Michael Knight on May 13, 2006, 07:07:47 PM
Is the TVA Kingston Steam plant receiving any western coal from NS?
I seem to recall NS moving a few trains from Memphis to Kingston via the CS at Chattanooga. If so, what is the frequency of such moves and train numbers?

Thanks!

Yes, Kingston is getting western coal out of Memphis.  Two train sets from BNSF with Powder River coal (72Z loaded and 73Z mty).  Also one train set on the UP moving coal out of Colorado (76Z loaded and 77Z mty).  No set schedule - trains just on a continuous cycle between Kingston and points west.  Kingston also gets a good bit of eastern coal as well.
