Title: Charleston Tn and the ETV&G
Post by: lwjabo on July 18, 2011, 08:34:20 PM
My wife's Gr gr grandfather enlisted as a Confederate soldier. He served in Company D 19 Bat Calvary Reg. He caught the measles and died at Charleston Tn. 10 Oct 1862. Does anyone know of a Confederate cemetery near there? I thought if I got up that way I would see if I could find his grave. His unit was there to guard the bridge over the Tennessee and the tracks I'm sure as east Tennessee was pro Union country. Might note our first war where men who died of diesease did not out number the ones who died of wounds was World War One.
