Title: Significant SR diesel for preservation
Post by: robm2716 on August 12, 2015, 01:22:21 PM
Some of you know that I sit on the board at KRM.  With the increasing age of our equipment and the growing lack of mechanical and electrical parts availablility for early EMD's, we would like to begin planting the seed of getting something like a GP-38 or MP15 earmarked for donation to the museum in the coming years, preferably something that has Southern, or more specifically CNO&TP, lineage.  As most of you know, we have an abundance of L&N equipment and it would be nice to showcase some other roads.

I am hoping this group can provide some ideas on if there are any particular units on NS that would fit this bill and have significant ties to railroading in Kentucky.  Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Rob Minton

Southern had some SW1500s from K&IT. They are long retired and their current state is unknown. Perhaps one of them might be available somewhere.
