Alabama East End / North Atlanta

Finally have some time to catch up on trip reports on the Alabama East End / Georgia North End Districts as the year comes to an end. Have not been able to spend much time track side as the Chief Dispatch had major back surgery and had to spend time helping with her rehabilitation plus the added chores of keeping the home front on track. Of late I have managed to get a few TW's for short periods when a Heritage unit or other unique unit is on the way through town. Adding to the drop off in posts to this forum.. derailed PC!  Major upgrades to the home PC hardware were also required and working through that took up a ton of time and patience as most on this board have "been there / done that".

NS G66 (CARRLLTON GA LOCAL) on the north leg of the "Y" of the East End Storage Tracks in the alley way Bremen Georgia


NS 153 (LINWOOD, NC - BIRMINGHAM, AL)  with NS 1065 Savanna & Atlanta heritage unit west bound on the main line east of Villa Rica Georgia MP 669.0


NS 24E (DALLAS, TX (KCS IDAAT2) - ATLANTA, GA) with a KCS leader holds the main line as west bound NS 739 (GP SCHERER – PRB) DPU's roll past on the siding at CP Taylor MP 675.5 east of Temple Georgia.


NS 169 (CONWAY PA - BIRMINGHAM AL) heads west out of the siding CP Ben Hill MP 655.2. The routing of this manifest train Via Piedmont Div. / Atlanta Div. was short lived as I haven't heard this west bounder for a month or more.


NS 251 (SANDUSKY, OH - EAST POINT, GA / JAXS FLX) South bound MP 134.5 Austell Georgia.


NS 251 (SANDUSKY, OH - EAST POINT, GA / JAXS FLX) South bound MP 133.6 on the run around at the "cat tails" downtown Austell. Will miss these Road Railers running on the NS!!!!


G92 Whitaker Yard / Inman transfer job heads south at Austell MP 133.4 on run around track as NS 361 (CHATTANOOGA, TN - MACON, GA) heads south on track #1. 


G92 north bound on track #2 at Austell MP 135 after retrieving a "lawed" Inman to Whitaker transfer left at CP Jac Mac.


NS 290  (MCCALLA, AL - CROXTON, NJ)  rolls east through downtown Douglasville with CN 2839 in the lead at MP 659.4


NS 22N (MEMPHIS, TN - ATLANTA, GA) Main line & NS 295 (CHICAGO, IL (LANDERS) - JAX, FL (FEC) on the run around out of Whitaker Yard both roll south at MP 133.4 Austell Georgia


NS 24E  (DALLAS, TX (KCS IDAAT2) - ATLANTA, GA) East bound past CP Lithia Springs MP 652.3


NS 220 (DALLAS, TX (KCS IDAAT)- ATLANTA, GA) stalled out at the Douglasville "S" curves. The KCS motor would not respond. As a result a pair of 4 axle GP units A25 local's power provided the necessary power to get the train on into Inman Yard. Both crews matched throttle positions as they began the east bound move toward Douglasville at MP 661

I live by the Ft Wayne Line and truthfully; I won't miss the road railers at all. Real nice pictures!

Glad to see your pics again.  Good job!  NS 169 is now Conway - Macon.  It runs down the CNO&TP to Chattanooga and then down the Atlanta North and South Districts.

Train 169 now terminates in Cincinnati.  Its schedule changed again recently.
