Natural Tunnel

Spent the holiday weekend in WV/VA.  Saturday was NS from Williamson WV to Tripp.  Not much happening though I did get one decent pic at Tunnel 1.  Sunday was mostly on the old Clinchfield in the Breaks Gorge.  Monday was a long hike and a swing by Natural Tunnel.  Though it's NS track, the train I caught on the back side of the tunnel late in the day was CSX.

Nice shots as always! I had heard of the Natural Bridge in VA, but not the Natural Tunnel

It's a state park between Gate City and Duffield-a couple of miles from Copper Creek.  The other side of the tunnel is the one you always see in photos.  There's a trail and a chair lift to chose from.

I'm not sure how frequent the trains run-several a day the best I can tell.  I saw a green nb signal and basically camped out for the one I got.  The hike where I was on the back side is not as bad as the main side of the tunnel, both both are about 10 minutes back up.
