East End 1-9-10

Decided that I didn't want to sit at the house, so got out to catch action on the East End, starting at Morristown.

On the way to Morristown, at about 10:30am I heard the East End Dispatcher (EED) tell 135 that he will meet 710 westbound at Keister, then 236 at Hodges.

11:05 - Track Authority given to NS 8368 (didn't catch train symbol), will meet 38Q and a late 236.

11:21 - EED tells 72K (NS TopGons - loaded coal from Turley TN to Eastman Chemical Kingsport) to roll into Bulls Gap track 4 to clear up the A line and allow 38Q and 236 to go by.  T59 in Bulls Gap yard with engine trouble.

11:35 - 710 westbound clears the defect detector at MP87.1 with no defects.  At the same time, the EED reports a track light on just east of Justice.

11:42 - Track Authority given to Mr._______ for MP76A to Rader.  Track problems reported.  EED says he will hold two eastbound trains at Kite.

11:43 - 236 calls diverging clear at Pickens

11:49 - 38Q calls approach at Kite, then raidos EED to inform and query why they were stopping.  EED reports the track problems

11:50 - Defect detector at MP79.0 reports no defects (38Q)

11:56 - 38Q calls stop indication at Justice.  NS8726, NS8873, NS2705, NS9119

12:02 - 236 calls an approach signal at Whitesburg.

12:12 - EED calls 22A (westbound from Bristol) for location, issues track authority for Telford to Jones.  NS7719 would be leading 22A.  MP79.0 Defect Detector reports no defects for 236.  236 calls a stop indication at Kite.  T59 still having trouble.

12:27 - Mr._____ clears his track authority with a report to EED.

12:30 - EED issues track warrant to 38Q to proceed from 76A to Rader AND to 236, same track warrant, upon signal indication.  236 has conrail 8373 in the lead, with NS9188, NS8369, NS9772.

12:52 - 38Q calls clear at Deer Valley.  Defect detector at 66.8 reports no defects.

12:55 - 38Q calls clear at Mohawk.

1:00 - 22A is at MP59.  EED issues track warrant from Rader to MP76A.  22A cannot depart til the arrival of NS8726 (38Q) and NS8373 (236).

1:03 - Track warrant issued to 38Q from Jones to Telford.  Do not depart til arrival of NS7719 (22A).

2:04 - 22A clears Bulls Gap with NS7719 in the lead, followed by NS6664, NS8433, NS9130, UP7318, NS9740 and NS8427

2:13 - 22A clears the defect detector at MP79.0 with no defects.

Thats all I could do for today, then headed home to Newport.  On the way, I heard 51R (empty grain) call clear at Douglas.
