I'm hanging out at the Keddie Wye [CA] at the end of today and about ready to go eat ribs when a BNSF freight dropped off the Gateway Sub on it's way west.  Imagine my surprise when Derby Day delivers not one, but two NS locos far, far away from home.  Here they are on the wye getting ready to enter Tunnel 32.

And the chase was on, 6-8 minutes later the train is crossing a bridge high on the Spanish Creek Canyon wall between tunnels 28 and 27 [for more detailed pix of the tunnels and bridge, just give me a hollar ;)].

Next stop was Virgilia where the Calrailfans group was camping out this weekend.  One of their leaders had given me some great access info and maps for the FRC.  It was in the shade, but I wanted to give them a heads up on the NS opportunity headed their way.

Further down the canyon, Spanish Creek has joined the North Fork of the Feather River, so we're officially in FRC.

The last pic as I was losing the sun, is between the Honeymoon Tunnels, T20-19.
